Uganda Update
By Denise Matthews
Isaiah 1:17 " Learn to do good;
Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless,
Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow."
eart of God in Uganda is growing by leaps and bounds. We have two new additions to the team: Sharlyn Guthrie is our Children's Education/ Music Director and Mark Matthews is the Director of Men's Ministry. We welcome both to our team and look forward to the many ways God will use their talents and abilities in Uganda.
Since our recent trip to Uganda the children of Smile Africa have been receiving fruit on a weekly basis. This is so important to their overall health and a huge blessing to them. Pastor Ruth has also taken in nine elderly widows whose grass huts have completely collapsed. These women are living on the premises of Smile Africa, and are helping to take care of the children as they are able. They too are receiving fruit each week and are so thankful for the blessing. Heart of God in Uganda is so appreciative to all you "ROCK" stars that help to make this possible. Just what is a ROCK star? You are our Resource Of Compassion & Kindness...a star among stars!

Please keep the men, women and children of Uganda in your prayers. Uganda is experiencing a severe drought in many areas. This drought is wiping out complete crops as we witnessed first hand in Butambutye. The maize fields were tall and withery with not a cob of corn on a single stalk. In these situations the cost of food and basic staples rise considerably. Many are in no position to buy food and are at high risk of starving to death.
Clean water is another concern. The water that many remote villages use is so dirty that in a small water bottle you cannot see to the other side. The sickness caused by this dirty water is another high cause of death among villages. Pastor Ruth sent me a message that 18 babies were lost from dysentary due to drinking water from a swamp.
Malaria and measles are the number one and two killers in Uganda, followed by dysentary and then AIDS. All of these killers are preventable, and most of them treatable, yet the people of Uganda suffer with no prevention, and once ill go without treatment. Pray with us as we take the steps necessary to bring clean water to this area, and make an effort to relieve the unnecessary suffering.
We have a new mission trip scheduled for June 2010, with many exciting avenues to using the gifts God has given us to glorify Him. We are seeking God's will for the next team. Our agenda will include a Men's Conference, Teachers conference, Youth Rally, well digging, remote village evangelism and of course working with the orphans and widows from Smile Africa. If you'd like more information on these events, want to sign up to be a part of the team, or feel led to donate to the cause or join a team of intercessors, please visit our website to contact us.
God Bless You!
